Knowing who you are is extremely important. In a world were standards and expectations are constantly changing it is hard to stay true to yourself unless you have something solid to hold onto.
The Young Women's theme, that we say each week, opens by saying "We are Daughters of our Heavenly Father." In the old testament Abraham is given strength simply by the fact that he knows he is a son of God. We can have strength as well when we except and rely on the reality that we are also children of a Heavenly Father.
Young children sing and have memorized The hymn I Am a Child of God. We are told this from childhood yet somehow there is a time in everyones life when you doubt. I think we should never stop singing this hymn, at least always be singing it in our minds. Constantly remind yourself of who you are. Sing the hymn, or say the theme, or in any other way that works for you.
I know that I am a child of God. I know that he loves me, and that I am enough. He knows my divine potential and wants to help me achieve it, if only I will listen to him and remember who I am. And I know this is all true for you as well.
